More After reading these reviews, it becomes obvious to me that the common themes between the reviews which scored Ess highly were the ones who spent money at the store straight up. I have rested an account on true local just so I could say just how appalled I was with the store's 'customer service'. I've worked in retail for close on 5 years, and snowboarded for 10 or so.

I haven't hit the slopes in a couple seasons! And my knowledge was a bit outdated. I went to Ess because I thought they had a huge range and good knowledge. I was right about the range, but so wrong about the rest. I walked in and yes, had to seek help. I had done my homework on the gear on the Internet before going in (so I had some idea and didn't look like an idiot) . I asked if I could steal an attendant to talk for half hour or so to entertain the idea of getting a whole setup at the store. As soon as I mentioned that I'd used the Internet to look at some gear, it was like he wanted nothing to do with me.

If I wasn't in the market today, I may as well walk out the door pretty much. Ok, so I tried to talk about boards, and I thought I'd found a good one with good reviews from a couple sites on the net. Turns out its a park-only board. Ok, fine, your the expert, I was happy with that. Then he tried to persuade me to get another board on top of this original board. What a joke! At this stage I was pretty fed up with this antics , as he'd more than once embarrassed me in front of fellow customers. I was in my right mind to drag him out the front of the shop by his little purple beanie and knock his teeth out.

All in all if you're not willing to spend big bucks and know what you want you may as well hire, these guys will give you no help.

Oh, and their prices are jokes. Buy your stuff online.

More Always amuses me when people have to complain, obviously seems easier to do this than give a good rap, but here goes.. having been a customer of this store and the jindabyne one as well for over 6 years I can't fault them on service or knowledge. Between the stores I have never seem the short of range or pricepoint gear. having a family with two young kids I am always looking for good value and have always been looked after at both locations, particuarly the Jindabyne one when boots become an issue. As always, take these posts with your own experience and judge them that way. just hate to see bad press when I don;t see it as necessary.. have fun in the snow..JT

    Extremely poor service and staff.

They will try and sell you expensive items with no product knowledge. Staff are extremely rude and disrespectful. Steer clear. You are much better off visiting STM or Alpsport in West Ryde.
